Description: 1959 Topps #314 Don Cardwell Philadelphia Phillies PSA 8 NM-MT MINT This is a High-end PSA 8 Don Cardwell card with nice corners, straight edges, and centering measuring 60/40 (L-R) ) in a clean, clear slab. Cardwell pitched 14 years in the majors after signing with Philadelphia in ‘54. He played with five teams, contributing innings, pitching more or less at a .500 clip for most of his career. In 1961, he started 38 games and led the league in starts. He pitched inside, leading the league twice in hit batsmen, hitting 16 one year, and 12 in another, and coming close to those numbers year in and year out. He was part of the miracle Mets of ‘69, though contributing little. In 1970 he was released by the Braves and out of baseball.
