They are employed as floriculturists in the Garfield Park Conservatory, where the warm growing season continues all year round. This happy fact has already inspired the man to glee as they strip off winter's attire (above). Dressed lightly in the balminess of the greenhouse (left), the men tend to their flowers. It'll be some months yet before the rest of us can engage in that happy pastime. Employees at the Garfield Park Conservatory are subjected daily to extremes in weather conditions. We see Robert Hays (in boots and plaid jacket) and Paul Forester, both Floriculturists at the Garfield Park Conservatory, as they mush their way to the office. After removing their Eskimo attire they hurry to look over the budding flowers in the case Primula Malacoides, which means Baby Primrose to us common folk. Mr. William C. Blaesing, Chief Horticulturist of the Chicago Park District, says he must keep the Conservatory temperatures ranging from 55 to 80 degrees, depending on the flowers or plants involved. Photo measures 2.5 x 2 inches. Photo Is dated 1958. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: afa66352 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
