Futoshi Nakanishi 中西 is in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame He was a player from 1952-1969. Nakanishi began playing baseball in junior high school. At the time, his team did not have any baseball equipment. The group practiced side by side with the American soldiers stationed in Japan after World War II. Nakanishi and his teammates would pick up and practice with baseballs military personnel had left behind. Nakanishi played in the Japanese High School Baseball Championship three times. He had planned to attend Waseda University, but his parents negotiated Nakanishi's first contract with the Nishitetsu Lions without his consent. He hit 12 home runs in his rookie season and subsequently decided to hone his power stroke. Due to his small build, Nakanishi had to twist and contort his body during at bats to generate power. He came close to the Triple Crown in four seasons, (1953, 1955, 1956, 1958) but never won. Nakanishi was spiked during the 1959 season, and suffered tendonitis in his wrist in 1960. Both injuries sapped his effectiveness as a player and he became the Lions' manager in 1962, playing the field occasionally until 1969. & Shigeo Nagashima 長嶋 茂雄is in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame Nagashima was a player for 17 seasons between 1958-1974. 444 career Homeruns with a .305 Career Average. 11X Japan Series Champion (as a player) 3X Japan Series Champion (as a manager) 1994, 1996, 2000 1958 Central League Rookie of the Year 5X Central League MVP (1961, 1963, 1966, 1968, 1971) 4X Japan Series MVP (1963, 1965, 1969, 1970) Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize (1971) Yomiuri Giants #3 retired Nagashima's ROOKIE Card light wearvery light small corner crease collector grade 1-13/16" by 3" Great for the 'type card collector', or Japanese Card collector.... guaranteed authentic and unaltered. ~SHIPPING~ I have to start charging for shipping on items over $20.
