Description: 1958 Baltimore Colts World Championship Presentational Bronze (This was originally on a wooden plaque that has separated and weathered away over the years). The true surge in popularity for the National Football League began during the 1958 NFL Championship game, which was the first NFL playoff game to go into a "Sudden Death" overtime and is now commonly referred to as "The Greatest Game Ever Played." The 1958 NFL Championship game was won the Baltimore Colts and Johnny Unitas by a score of 23-17 over the New York Giants and offered here is a presentational bronze medallion / trophy that was originally crafted onto a small wooden plaque. These were given by the team to all players a team personnel for their part on the 1958 world champion Baltimore Colts squad. The 6" in diameter bronze piece features a figural player with a Colts helmet in the center and "Baltimore Colts 1958 World Football Champions, For Outstanding Teamwork" around the perimeter. These were given to all the 1958 Baltimore Colts players and personal as I understand and very few were ever made or still exist today. I did post a picture of the only one I found online that someone cleaned up. I have left this medallion in it's actual form as it is 65 years old.
