Dressed in Burmese costume, holding a fan and bowl, as he participated in festivities celebrating the Burmese New Year, Chou En-Lai, premier of Communist China presents an unusual smiling face. His unidentified aide at left shows results of throwing of water, symbolic of the Burmese New Year when evil spirits are washed away and one is "cooled" against trying times. Festivities took place in Rangoon, India as Chou was enroute to Bandung conference.Photo measures 7.5 x 10inches. Photo is dated 4-20-1955.
