Rescuers are too late, animal catches bullfighter with horns. Mexican matador (bullfighter) Jorge Medina was seriously injured when he was tossed by a bull in a Barcelona, Spain bullfight. The bull enraged by the pre-kill banderitas (swords) implanted in his shoulders, knocked Medina to the ground (top left). Medina tried to roll away from the animal but was caught by its horns (top right). Rescuers, who attempted to attract the bull's attention were too late and the bullfighter was thrown into the air. One of the animals horns went through Medina's thigh, but he is expected to recover. Photo measures 9.5 x 6.25 inches. Photo is dated 11-21-1954.
