American airmen stand in swirling snow after making a dangerous landing at Fuerstenfeldbruck Air Field despite a heavy snow storm. They were carrying life saving serum for eight year old Gottfried Eder, the Austrian boy who was dying of hemophilia at Innsbruck's Children's Hospital. From this Bavarian base the serum had to be taken by jeep through snow covered mountain country. The serum arrived in time to save the child's life. Left to right the members of the crew are Chief Pilot Major Jack Lawton of Denver, CO, Co Pilot Major William C Marr of Philadelphia, PA, Flight Engineer S/Sgt Leon Gilbert of Plainview, TX and Radio Operator Airman First Class Robert Edwards, no home town given.
