Description: 1954 bell porable sewing machine, inc. This little sewing machine is smaller than a new baby. I have seen these on occasion so not particularly rare an item, but never succumbed to the siren song of bringing one home until now. It seemed impossible that it would work in any way other than as a toy. Do they work? Hard to imagine as it is the same size as my scissors. This machine was made in the late 50's by the Bell company in Pennsylvania USA. There is a good bit of history on the company on the pages of Needlebar.org, a terrific resource for those who love vintage sewing machines.
