Description: Important, Strongest 1954 Clash! 1954 Franklin Half Dollar PCGS: "Obv Die Clash" FS-402 Franklin Variety Index: FVI Bugs Bunny A-1 PCGS MS63 Radiant brilliance with some scattered original roll haze that does not inhibit the booming frosty surfaces. Great bell lines with only tiny disturbances. Just missed FBL by a hair. PCGS price guide is $175. The attribution, FVI Bugs Bunny A-1, is easy due to the extreme clashing showing over Franklin's mouth and into the field, and the spike coming out of the nose. Other diagnostics include a horn clash between neck and date, with the top side forming a deep grove, as well as a long spike from right side of bell, well above the bell lines. The fields have begun to frost heavily, but this piece still shows all the features of the prime stage. Later stages of this die do not show the full array of feather clashes around mouth. Those are designated as "A-1a." It is challenging to find most of the 1954 die pairs in early stages, and this is the strongest variety in the earlier stage. An important offering.
