The noted lyricist, brother of the late composer George Gershwin, was reported in "satisfactory" condition following surgery which lasted approximately 2 1/2 hrs. The 62 year old Gershwin underwent major surgery for an abdominal obstruction on Christmas Eve 1957. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated --1953.
