Pierre Amandry (1912-2006) was a French hellenist, especially interested in Ancient Greece and its relationships with south-west Asia. A large part of his work was on the site of Delphi, excavated by the French School in Athens, of which he was Secretary General from 1941-8 and director from 1969-81. He discovered treasures of gold and ivory under the sacred way in Delphi & the study of these objects led him to be interested in South-West Asian art. Although in poor condition, can still be read through and used for scholarly research. Plates are in good condition. FORN-MSB-0923-0696-HK671
