1953 American Folk Art Fabric Figure In Period Clothing Woman Strolling. Signed

Description: For sale is an absolutely wonderful mid 20th century signed American folk art figural fabric artwork with a watercolor background in a shadow box frame. This piece came from a grouping of four that we acquired that came out of a private New York estate. Said to be from a Upper Hudson Valley area estate. It is signed with the initials AK by an unknown folk art artist. The figure is a female figure who is meticulously rendered in period clothing with fine detail. She holds a basket of flowers in one hand, some of which are spilling from her basket, while strolling along with a pink ballon in her left hand. Wearing her Sunday best for sure. Her hat with a sweet white feathered plume. A beautiful folk art work!!! The ballon was hanging down so we restored it back in place using a little adhesive. The spilling flowers are intentional by the artist. The figure is one of four that we received that were all framed the same. Please see one of our detailed photographs for all four pieces together. They are all dated separately so we do not believe they were a pair. All 4 were signed 1953 so while this date is cut off somewhat, we are certain it is dated 1953 as well. Framed under glass in a cream colored shadowbox frame of the period. The pieve in overall great condition for age. Some normal toning to the background, watercolor, and normal aging to the clothing. All age appropriate wear as expected. Considered to be in very good condition for age. The frame with age appropriate paint wear as shown in all of our detailed pictures.
