1952 Topps #307B Frank Campos Variation - Partial Top Border

Description: Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. One of only 10 known examples to be authenticated, graded and labeled as a variation ("Partial Top Border"). Other examples are known to exist in PSA holders but none of them are explicitly labeled different from the regular card.During the printing process, perhaps very early in the print run, the left portion of the top black border was not printed on a very small number of 1952 Topps Frank Campos cards. This printing error may have occurred for a variety of reasons, but it is known to have been replicated and then fixed.This card is one of the scarcest, nationally distributed, post-war variations and was first listed in the 2013 Beckett Almanac of Baseball Cards as #307B in the 1952 Topps series. We would estimate that fewer than 100 examples exist, making it much tougher to find than the more well-known Frank Campos "black star" variation. No 1952 Topps master set is complete without it. Based on the statistics and nature of each 1952 Topps Frank Campos variety, we would estimate the ratio of "black star" to "partial top border" cards to be 5:1. The hobby has increasingly grasped this disparity as some of the sales of the "partial top border" variation have realized more than the "black star" variation in similar grades.
