The battered American freighter Flying Enterprise hull cracked and listing to port up to 60 degrees, wallows helplessly in hurricane seas 350 miles off Land's End. Forty crewmen and 10 passengers were rescued after jumping into the ice cold water, but still aboard the stricken shi and alone after four days waiting for a tow was Captain Kurt Carlsen who refused to quit. Survivors have reached various ports ad the 6700 ton Flying Enterprise should be taken safely in town when the seas subside. Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75 inches. Photo is dated 1-12-1952.
