Description: 1950s Wooden Jewelry Box w/ Personalized Bronze Plaque Lid - Kingston, Ontario. This jewelry box was made by Kinnear D’esterre (Diamond Merchants) in Kingston, Ontario (Canada). It was made in 1958 - according to the personalized bronze plaque lid. The plaque is made out to Dave Nowlan. From a quick google search, it turns out that this gentleman graduated from Kingston’s Queens University in 1958. He went on to work for U of T in Toronto & eventually the Canadian government (along with MANY more professional achievements). I assume that the lid was once a plaque that was taken down from Queens University or a plaque that was presented to the recipient upon his graduation. In either case, Kinnear D’esterre did an amazing job turning this plaque into a jewelry box. It is now a beautifully functional piece of history. See photographs for measurements.
