Description: Vintage Singer automatic zigzagger. Part number 161102. Sewing machines of this era only did a straight stitch, this attachment uses cams to drive the presser foot in the associated pattern, which essentially moves the fabric under the needle. Today's electronic machines move the needle over the fabric. Four red cams are included: standard zig-zag (161000), blind stitch pattern (161001), domino stitch pattern (161002), and arrowheads (161003). Also includes the owner's manual, and a storage bag. Probably the most interesting thing to me is the bottom of the original box. It was covered with a piece of decorative paper that was taped on with cellophane tape. That tape has long since disintegrated, and under that decorative paper is "shop floor". My guess: this was a gift from my Dad to my Mom, which he got at a discount because he bought the "floor model".
