Description: Print is: New Ireland Fruit Pigeon (Carpophaga Rubricera). Native to Papua New Guinea. Color lithograph print published London 1948. Condition is outstanding. Bright vibrant colours. This print is a fine example of the lithograph printers art. Paper is thick, textured and in good condition and would look wonderful once framed. Sheet size 18 cms x 23 cms. The print area is in the centre of the sheet which provides ample scope for trimming if required. The rear of the print is blank. Sold unmatted. The artist - John Gould FRS (14 September 1804 – 3 February 1881) was an English ornithologist and bird artist. He published a number of monographs on birds, illustrated by plates that he produced with the assistance of his wife. He has been considered the father of bird study in Australia and the Gould League in Australia is named after him. ● I have many more prints in my Ebay Shop.
