Reads, "Permanent pass- to Miss Von Horvath she is allowed to go the workplace of the painter Rivera. Dated July 23, 1947. Vertical fold. Address labels stuck on. Irene Van Horvath was born on November 23, 1918. Von Horvath was an architect and long-time resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico where she was on the planning commission from 1955 to 1967. While in that capacity, she co-authored the Historic Styles Ordinance and was given the New Mexico Heritage Preservation Award in 1997. She died in Santa Fe on September 6, 2007. In her leisure she painted oils and watercolors (known for landscape). A view of the mission in Santa Barbara, dated 1943, is extant.
