Description: You are purchasing a very rare 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo Cuban Baseball card. #50 Lazaro Medina Card - The set that this card comes from covers the 1946-47 Cuban Baseball winter league and had 185 cards in the set. Approximately 1/3 of the players in this set played in the segregated Negro Leagues. Player pictures for the set were often grainy or fuzzy if picked up from other sources such as newspapers. The cards from the set were printed on very thin paper with the cards usually ending up pasted into a set album also issued by Caramelo Deportivo so card backs are usually damaged. The cards were black and white and approximately 1-7/8 " by 2-1/2" (though size does differ due to inconsistent cutting. printed on very thin paper. The set includes many players who were major leaguers and stars of the US Negro Leagues and in many cases may be the only card ever issued for a specific player. Early Cuban issued baseball cards are hard to find in any condition! They are rare but can be found occasionally, with their scarcity far greater than most cards from sets issued in North America. This card appears to be in acceptable to good condition.
