Here's a scene in the Douglas Aircraft Company's Oklahoma City plant where there are 23 miles of fluorescent lighting, the reflections of which are made of a new form of wood called prestwood. This new wood is half way between metal and ordinary wood in hardness and in weight. It does not flame in a fire, and water does not soak it. It can be cut and machined. The advantage for reflectors is a 75 per cent reduction in weight and ease of shaping. Enamel or synthetic resin finishes are baked upon the reflectors. This wood is now going into hospital tables and incubators, x-ray machines and a good many military articles. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1944.
