Description: 1942 Press Photo Comedian Andy Rooney Composite, Army Enlistment, Boarding Plane This is an original press photo. Taken at the end of a day's work as a battery clerk just before shipping out of Indiantown Gap on a hot day in July, 1942. The picture accurately captures my attitude toward being in the Army. Getting on board a 385th Bombardment Group B-17 before a trip over Saint Nazaire, France. With the doors open at gun positions, it was cold and drafty up there. The sheepskin jacket was a prized possession that I lost on the way home from China a year later. Andy Rooney, Author of "My War."Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 08-01-1942.
