Description: Handsome original fold-out 1942 Esso Colonial Beacon road map of New England, printed more than 73 years ago. The map opens to 32½" x 23" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company of New York. The coverage area includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, with inset plans of New Haven, Providence, and Boston. The map was distributed by the Colonial Beacon Oil Company in 1942 to promote its Esso brand gasoline and motor oil, and it is dated by the code number in the lower corner is 142. The cover artwork shows a harbor scene at East Gloucester, Massachusetts, with two sailboats. Condition: This vintage gas station map is in very good, lightly used condition, bright and clean, with tiny breaks on a couple of the fold corners and no marks or writing. Please see the scans, which show both sides of the map opened up, and feel free to ask any questions. Buy with confidence!
