1941 Bulova Commander Copper Dial 14K Rose GF 17J Rectangle Men’s Dress Watch

Description: Presented here is a 1941 Bulova Commander Copper Dial 14K Rose GF 17J 8AE Rectangle Men’s Dress Watch This distinguished Bulova Commander timepiece from the 40’s features a 21 mm x 31 Rectangular 14K Rose Gold Filled case a minimalistic design and hooded lugs. Rolled gold or gold filled is preferred over gold plating for is higher gold content and long lasting luster…and this one is 14K! The case houses a copper dial with black painted non-numeric hour markers. The dial is signed BULOVA and has a seconds register. It is fitted with dark brown Alligator print calf leather band (marked). This timepiece is powered by a Bulova 8AE 17 Jewels mechanical winding movement that is running strong. The movement has an Asterix date code indicating a 1941 production date. The last pic is reproduced from a 1940 Bulova advertisement and shows this watch in the bottom right corner. For a watch that is over 80 years old, it is in remarkable pre-owned vintage condition. It appears to have been maintained like an heirloom, as it rightfully should. The case has light scratches but shows no loss to the gold filling. Crystal is tinted with light scratches but no cracks/scuffs. The crown is not signed and yellow gold tone…most likely replaced at some point. The band appears like new or recently changed and complements the timepiece well. The dial is surprisingly clean with light tarnish and oxidation and some of the hour markers have faded away (see pic of dial outside the case). The movement is clean and keeping reasonably good time for a vintage mechanical timepiece (It runs a few minutes fast). Service history is unknown and as with all vintage mechanical watches, regular service is recommended. I have included several pictures of the watch, movement and band. Please review these carefully as they are part of the description. Please note that all pictures are taken on the macro setting to show detail. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows during photography, and specks of dust appear more prominent even though they are often not visible without magnification. This distinguished Bulova Commander timepiece is a beautiful example of American watchmaking at its finest!. It is not common to find one of these 40’s timepieces with a Rose Gold finish & Copper dial in this condition. It will make an admirable addition to any Vintage watch collection.
