Description: 1940's Dollcraft Lazy Baby Mask-Faced Christmas Doll with Bunny Ears A charming, well-loved Dollcraft Lazy Baby doll with a mask-face and bunny ears in bright Christmas colors. This was mine in the very early 1950's. There is not much information about the history of the Dollcraft Company in New York. They began making dolls in the 1920's. These mask-faced dolls were made in the 1940's and many were used as carnival prizes. At one point they were also called the Dollcraft Novelty Company. This baby has the hard plastic face with painted eyebrows, eyes and lips, a cute button nose and rosy red cheeks. She is dressed in a Christmassy hooded cotton onesie of red and green checks. The ends of her arms and legs are a bright red vinyl. She has floppy bunny ears which are lined with the red vinyl. She has a bit of yellow yarn hair sticking out from the front of the hood. The original tag says "Lazy Baby by Dollcraft N.Y." She is in loved vintage condition. She is approximately 14 inches long not including ears and approximately 10 inches wide. She has an abrasion on her left chubby cheek. (Please see photos.) The tag is torn but is fully readable. (Please see photos.) The seams are all intact but there is a tear/worn spot on the back of her head. (Please see photos.) The ears are floppy but they might have originally stood up when the vinyl lining was new. (Please see photos.) There are a couple of spots on the cotton onesie and the back of one ear which I will leave to the buyer to try to remove. (Please see photos.) There is a very small hole in the red vinyl end of her left leg. (Please see photos.) Her yellow yarn hair is worn. (Please see photos.) She has a scratch on her upper red lip. (Please see photos.) I did not attempt to clean her face or arms and legs as I did not know the proper procedure--I will leave that to the buyer.
