1940s Burgundy Appliquéd & Embroidered Mexican Tourist Jacket Size S/M

Description: This listing is for a Circa 1940s Burgundy Appliquéd & Embroidered Mexican Tourist Jacket Size S/M. This is an iconic Mexican jacket that was made for the tourists visiting Mexico in the 1940s to the 1960s. This deep burgundy colored jacket has beautifully appliquéd villagers, cacti, palm trees, and a well on the front and pockets. The back has intricate appliquéd and embroidered villagers, a house and path, cacti, a donkey, birds and flowers. Based on the extensive appliqué work and collar, this jacket transitions between the late 1940s to early 1950s. It is a fabulous example of well crafted appliqué work. It also has yellow cross stitching around the collar, down the front, across the bottom and around the cuffs and pockets. This jacket is in beautiful condition with no holes, stains, or missing threads, and the appliqué work is incredible. Any dark areas are shadows from photographing. These jackets, meant to be worn open, always look great with jeans, skirts, and especially, with the vintage Mexican circle skirts. I have a collection of over 140 of these jackets that I have amassed over the last 35 years. I have really enjoyed wearing these jackets over the years, and at this point in my life, I have decided to sell off my whole collection. I selected only jackets that were in impeccable condition. My jackets have been stored in a cedar lined, cool storage space to prevent any damage from sunlight or insects. I have collected every color and design imaginable. Most are a size S or M.
