Description: WOW! Rare Rustic1940s-50s thermos - ewer - carafe designed by ALDO TURA and offered by Macabo! Interesting design with vintage lacquered wood goatskin body and silver plate top with brass handle. The separate pieces of wood come together to make the unusual and interesting exterior. This is a OLD piece with lots of wear from time, use and storage. It securely hold liquids and would be such a great rustic piece on any table! This piece is not signed but totally indicative of ALDO TURA/Macabo pieces during this period. This estate sale item has an unknown medallion attached to the top of the handle. Intended as a thermos carafe with glass liner in place and in tact but no ball top closure. These high end pieces of vintage Italian decor are highly desireable. Measures: 10.75" tall at tallest6" wide at widest4.25" deep This is a cool vintage piece from the 1950s. It it rough around the edges and in my opinion such a cool rustic Mid Century display piece! The body has rough wear...scuffy, scratched; the base has a slight surface crack; and there is a slight gap between a few pieces of the wood. There is also a screw/nail missing UNDER the top of the handle but the handle is attached and secure. If you are looking for a cool old display mid century piece, this old high piece with charachter and wear, this piece is a gem! Please see all photos and reach out if you have any questions PRIOR to purchasing. This is an as is sale. About the Artist Aldo Tura: Aldo Tura was an Italian artist-Craftsman who started to manufacture and design furniture in the 1930's. As an experimental furniture designer Aldo Tura often used a wide selection of unusual materials which included: eggshell, parchment, leather and wood veneering. His name is synonymous with classic, timeless design and the elaborate manufacture of furniture with a unique character. Aldo opened his own workshop in Milan in the late 1930s. His design sketches united elements of art deco and minimalism in a stylistic fusion. He favoured the use of coloured and lacquered parchment and red, green and brown tones are among his best loved and most often used colours. Among Tura's trademark designs are tables, sideboards and, above all, fully-equipped bar furnishings. Throughout his life Tura never followed the trend towards industrial production, but instead remained faithful to his métier as a manufacturer of high-quality designer works until his death in 1963. Today the firm of 'Tura', with its headquarters in the Italian region of Brianza, produces exclusive items of furniture that follow in the tradition of their famous namesake.
