Created by World War One pilot, William Earl Johns, better known by his pen name Captain W. E. Johns. These stories were aimed at young readers and feature Biggles on an array of air adventures. With charming full-page illustrations to each. Most works are illustrated by Alfred Sindall. Those with different illustrators are otherwise specified.Each volume comes with the publisher's original dust wrapper. With a few being wartime economy wraps, with previous materials visible to the reverse. All dust wrappers are unclipped with the exception of 'South Seas' and 'Biggles Goes to War'. In the original dust wrappers, with 'South Seas' and 'Goes to War' being clipped. All other wraps unclipped. Externally, generally very smart. With slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Dust wrappers are smart. With edge wear and instances of chipping largely to 'Baltic' and 'Sees it Through', but most to the spine head and tail. Large closed tears to 'Sees it Through' and fading to 'South Seas'. Marks to all the wraps, heaviest to 'South Seas'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, several with contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpapers. Scattered spotting to 'Biggles in Spain'. The odd spot to the endpapers of 'Spitfire Parade' and offsetting to the endpapers of 'Flies North' and 'Baltic'.
