Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets.In the 1930's, numerous companies produced sets of inexpensively produced movie star cards. One of these was R96, a set of about 120 different 5x7 blank-backed photos printed on light card stock. Issued by Gum Inc. of Philadelphia, the same company that issued "Horrors of War" and other popular sets, a youngster could buy a gumball for a penny, and choose a movie star photo from an open box the candy store would have on display. They can be easily identified by the phrase "Aquatoned in U.S.A." which appears at the bottom of the caption. There's also a subset of photos from this set that was issued with numbers, running from 1 to 25. The set features nice portrait poses of the biggest Hollywood stars of the day. This card features actress Dorothy Fay. It's in generally acceptable shape with surface damage, and has some scapbook residue on the back (see scan for condition), not too bad for a card that's over eighty years old. This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Shipping will be combined for multiple purchases. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
