The letters collected here begin in 1906, and up to 1914 they are principally about subjects related to archeology in the Middle East, including Crusader castles , etc., etc. From 1914 onward the letters are about World War I, the aftermath of the war, conditions in the Middle East , etc., etc. The last letter was written on May 13, 1935, the day Lawrence was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident, just two months after leaving military service. Lawrence's letters, which are arranged chronologically, are considered to be well-written and interesting. "All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible." - T.
