Description: Walt DisneyThe Autograph Hound Stepin Fetchit Production Animation Drawing 1939 Vaudeville and film actor Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry, better known as the character Stepin Fetchit is caricatured in this original Disney animation drawing. Perry parlayed the Fetchit persona into a successful film career, becoming the first Black actor to earn $1 million and receive featured screen credit in a film. The production drawing in this lot is from a scene at the 5:52 mark in this star-studded short directed by Jack King. The nicely centered image measures 7" x 6" rendered in graphite and red pencil on 12 field 5-peghole paper. It is numbered 25 in the lower right corner, stamped 9 on back, and includes inker instructions to the right of the character. The great T. Hee created the caricatures in this film and would go on to do the same at other studios throughout his career. Minor handling and edge wear. Condition is EXCELLENT for it's age.
