Description: Art Deco PIERCE SCHOOL SPELLING Bee Medal - Vintage School Award Gold ORIG BOX. The back is marked BALFOUR and the original box has Old font lettering of the Balfour Company in Attleboro Mass. The medal measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4”. The medal hangs from a long necklace of black ribbon. It’s still folded into its original box so I didn’t want to undo it. The box top lid is a nice bronze color either the medal kept on a velvet backing inside the box. It is dated 1939 on the back. The medal has a nice logo of a bee surrounded by leaves. The wording reads; “Pierce Interscholastic Spelling Championship “ - Pierce School. Possibly the Pierce School In Philadelphia PA? This did come from a PA estate along with other award bages. The medal has a gold antiqued finish to it.
