Description: I have for sale a distinguished service medal for the 1936 Great Lakes Exposition. The exposition was held in Cleveland, Ohio, in the summers of 1936 & 37, along the Lake Erie shore. The exposition commemorated the centennial of Cleveland's incorporation as a city. The medal is made of silvered bronze, it is 2 1/4 inch in diameter and graded MS 61 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and housed in one of their large holders. The obverse shows a scene with early Americans and Indians and around the rim it reads FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE GREAT LAKES EXPOSITION with the years 1836 - 1936. The reverse at the rim reads GREAT LAKES EXPOSITION - CLEVELAND CENTENNIAL. In the center it has a map of the Great Lakes region with a compass pointed at Cleveland, similar to the reverse of the Cleveland Great Lakes Exposition half dollar, and it also has a place for engraving.
