Description: ··· IMAGE ···Oliver Ditson was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1811. At the age of 12, Ditson got a job at a bookstore owned by Col. Samuel Hale Parker. The store also stocked choral and instrumental sheet music. After a fire destroyed most of the bookstore in 1834, Parker and Ditson went into business together with whatever they could save or salvage from the damage - mostly music.
