Description: After over 35 years of collecting Chicago Worlds Fair Memorabilia, I'm downsizing and letting go of some of the collection. This is one of my most prized items. This is an opportunity to own a wonderful historical barware item from the most iconic of the Great Worlds Fairs of the ART DECO period. This is a piece featuring the Ford Rotunda building. It was built at the fair for Ford Motor Company. After the fair, the unusual round building was moved to Dearborn, Michigan where it featured a Christmas Fantasy Extravaganza each year. Unfortunately, in 1962, as they were preparing the building for the event, a sealant in the roof was ignited by a propane heater and the building was a total loss. Ford decided it was too expensive to rebuild and the Ford Rotunda became a memory. This tray is 17-1/4” long x 12 1/4” high. The dark brown enamel finish is in excellent preowned condition. Unfortunately, because of the gloss, the rich color and designs don’t show up in the photos as beautiful as they are in person. If you like the pictures, you will love it in person! The back of the tray is a light brown color. The serving area is recessed about an inch P.S. My grandfather, Jimmy "The Pipe" Haire was an exhibitor at this fair so there is a strong personal connection. He was the World Checkers Champion at the time and author of numerous checkers "move sets" including the Bible of Tournament Checkers competition, "Ramblings With the Switcher". At the fair, he would play 100 contestants at a time and in over 20 months he lost once.
