1932-1936 FDR ROOSEVELT EXTREMELY RARE 9 INCH PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN BUTTON

Description: In this listing we are offering a marvelous & extremely rare GIANT 9 inches diameter celluloid presidential campaign button. This was issued for one of Franklin D. Roosevelt's presidential campaigns in 1932-1936. The button shows a young & handsome portrait of FDR. A gorgeous design which is visually elevated to the max in this amazing 9 inches diameter button. This is a design which is normally seen in 1 1/4 inch & 3 1/2 inch sizes. There are only tiny number of examples known of this button in this extremely rare GIANT 9 inch size which we are offering in this listing! We have been involved in political buttons for 60 years & this is the first & only example of this button in the 9 inch size which we have ever had a chance to acquire. This example is a recent find fresh out of a Lancaster County. Pa. estate. There are four very minor surface flaw lines, which occurred in the assembling of the button, at positions of "S" & "E" in President & “R" and in “D." in his middle initial. Otherwise, the front is crystal clear, vividly sharp, & shows only a few minute signs of age. The circular metal back has some surface oxidation & some surface rust which is intermingled with some shiny areas. There are two little open lines in the celluloid along the back edge where the metal collet circular piece would have fit. Each open line measures 7/16 inch long. The circular strip which would have originally fit around around the celluloid on the inside back edge, (the metal collet), is missing from the back. Also, missing from the back is a metal wire easel which would have folded out to stand the button up. A button which could be a major center piece for an advanced FDR collection or which would be impressive enough displayed entirely on it's own.
