Schünemann and F.L. Hoerth. He made his debut in 1929 at the Düsseldorf Opera House as the title hero in "Schwanda the Bagpiper" by Weinberger. 1930-31 he was engaged at the Cologne Opera House, 1932-33 at the Theater of Königsberg (East Prussia), 1932 he was appointed to the Staatsoper of Dresden, whose member he remained for more than 35 years until 1969; since 1968 he was honorary member of the house. He sang at the Dresdner Oper in the world premieres of two Richard Strauss operas: on July 1, 1933 in »Arabella«, on October 15, 1938 in »Daphne«.
