Not a cheap paper covered tin, but genuine quality Tin Lithography. Phenomenal Graphics! Matchbox holders for clipping onto a box of matches, keeping them tightly in place. These were given out by Cigarette companies in England as an advertising campaign starting in the 1903's when "Ready Rolled" Cigarettes started to become real popular, especially in Europe. The US major "Ready Rolled" cigarette brands were getting well established then too. All 3 feature English Brand, 1930's Tobacco cigarette advertising. They looked like the brands cigarette pack, only smaller. They are about 2 ¼ inch high, 1 ½ inches wide and ¾ inch thick. One is “Bears Elephant Cigarettes” London. It features a detailed elephant on the front and back. Another features a Gentleman in a Top Hat called “Passing Show” Cork Tipped Virginia Cigarettes. The third is “Neptune Navy Cut” Cigarettes. It’s graphics are of a Sailing Schooner at sea. The graphics are lithographed directly onto the tin. NOT A PAPER LABELThese are sturdy Tin Litho Tobacco advertising at it’s finest. Typical minor handling and age patina, minor surface rust on the inside, but none on the graphics. Slightly crimped in at the top, bottom and edges to clamp to the box of matches tightly, yet allow you to open the box, remove a match and strike it. Excellent condition.
