Description: ***EXCELLENT pre-owned condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches. Truly exquisite. Please see pics!*** Three Pieces From 1930's Augarten Wien 'Orient' Porcelain Coffee Service The 1930's 'Orient' collection was designed by Ena Rottenberg, one of the most influential artists at the Augarten factory. The pieces were meant to represent the coffee and tea-producing regions of Asia and Africa. 1. Covered mocha pot with finial depicting Indian man (6" x 7.5" x 4.25") 2. Covered sugar bowl with finial depicting African man (4.5" x 4.5" x 4.5") 3. Tall open creamer (3.25" x 6" x 3.25") White in color with the slightest tinge of grey. Very glossy glaze. Blue shield mark and "Wien" back stamp. --- More about these pieces:This mocha service was manufactured in two versions that suggest the dual nature of Viennese design in the years after World War I. The first was simple and unadorned while the second, as we have for sale, was decorative. The same forms were utilized but replaced the plain knobs with "exotic" heads - each national type suggesting the locale of the production contained within. These figurative finials recall 18th century usage and possess a neo-Rococo flavor.
