He succeeds Captain Davis Foote Seller, U.S.N., who has been detailed to command the U.S.S. Maryland. Commander Ellis graduated from the Naval Academy in 1900 and during his last tour of sea service, he was in command of the U.S.S. Salem and also in command of a destroyer squadron and the U.S.S.
