Fifield in the U.S. Army Air Service, during World War I (1918)Lt. Fifield leaned against his cane, but not withstanding the pain in his knee, he managed a smile. Memories of the dogfight during a recent dawn patrol made him proud. Even though he had been hit he managed to down four Hun Fokker D.VIIs. This had won him the French Croix de Guerre and a Commendation from Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, commanding officer of the 94th Aero Squadron.World War I (aka First World War, WW1, WWI) was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. It was fought between two coalitions, the Allies and the Central Powers, from 7/28/1914 – 11/11/1918. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia, especially East Asia. An estimated 9 million soldiers were killed in combat, plus another 23 million wounded, while 5 million civilians died as a result of military action, hunger, and disease. Millions more died as a result of genocide, while the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic was exacerbated by the movement of combatants during the war. "Series 77 Miniatures" was founded by Pat Bird and John Tassel to produce 77mm size miniatures (hence the company name); with their only fantasy line released around November 1979. John, however, decided to leave Series 77 to devote full time to the now world-famous Lassett Miniatures. In the early 1990s, Pat Bird decided to retire and sold the company however the new management were unable to make the business a success.Your shipment will arrive via USPS Priority Mail (1-4 business days) or USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 business days), after the 2-3 day processing time (upon paid purchase)Shipment(s) sent out of Lemon Grove, California, USAWill be packed very well - READ OUR FEEDBACK!No Returns ***AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT AFTER PURCHASE, WHICH MAY REFLECT A MORE ACCURATE POSTAGE RATE FOR THIS ITEM - DON'T PASS THIS UP YET!
