Description: Titled "Comiskey's Champion White Sox - 1917," this enormous 40 x 18-inch photographic print pictures twenty-five members of the 1917 World Champion White Sox, each standing shoulder to shoulder in uniform, superimposed against a background photo of a filled-to-capacity Comiskey Park. This is one of the all-time great display pieces of the era, and one of the few that is also an extraordinary Black Sox related display piece. Portrait photos of president Charles Comiskey, secretary Harry Grabiner, and treasurer Louis Comiskey are pictured above the players. All of the players are identified in print directly below their respective images. This print has long been hailed as one of the most visually impressive of all panoramic display pieces and is also highly desirable due to the fact that it features all of the infamous "eight men out" who were later banned from baseball for their role in the 1919 World Series scandal: Joe Jackson, Ed Cicotte, Hap Felsch, Swede Risberg, Lefty Williams, Buck Weaver, Chic Gandil, and Fred McMullen. Also included in the photo are Eddie Collins, manager Kid Gleason, Ray Schalk, and Urban Faber. The photographers credit, "Burke & Atwell - 173 W. Madison St., Chicago," appears along the base. In addition to its stunning visual appeal, the offered piece is also a condition rarity. These prints are large and were produced on relatively thin stock, and as a result, most surviving examples are in poor condition. This piece is exceptional with regard to its state of preservation. There is staining throughout and some abrasions to the piece While technically in Good condition, the print presents minimally as Very Good-Excellent. This would be a prize on the wall of even the most advanced museum-caliber collection. Buy it with confidence 100% positive feedback.
