This is a SCARCE to RARE piece of the original wooden stage floor of the Wells Theatre, located in Norfolk, Virginia! This item was manufactured as a promotional advertising item for Central Fidelity Bank, which became Wachovia in 1997. This small piece of wood is encased in what appears to be clear lucite or acrylic. Measures approx. 2" x 2" x 2". According to Wikipedia, “The theatre opened on August 26, 1913 with a production of The Merry Countess, a Shubert musical. In 1916 Jake Wells installed a movie screen and projector, although theatrical bookings continued to occupy most of the theatre's schedule. Many of America's leading performers appeared at the Wells, among them John Drew, Maude Adams, Otis Skinner, John Philip Sousa, Billie Burke, Fred and Adele Astaire and Will Rogers.” A great addition to your Norfolk memorabilia collection!
