A NOTE ABOUT GRADING: For decades I used Brown & Dunn's book, but I began using the American Numismatic Grading Standards as a guide several years ago. It's more "liberal" in grading than Brown and Dunn. A few examples (quotes from the ANA guide): For Very Fine, "point of horn not always visible." For Fine, "horn and tail are smooth, but partially visible." For Good, "date is partially visible." Some of the earlier dates are weakly struck, notably 1925 & 1926, and may only have a partial date, even for grades higher than Good. I'm not permitted to use the ANA numbers, but keep in mind that many grades have a range of numbers, so a better grade is worth more than the lower number of the same grade.
