Ada SASSOLI Harp solo, protege of Melba and John Lemmone, in one of her first recordingsValse de concertAlphonse Hasselmans (composer)10/2/1912Am springbrunnen Albert Zabel (composer) Ada Sassoli (instrumentalist : harp) Description: Harp solo12/10/1910 New York, New York Victor 55102 12-in. CitationGreat Victor Blue label 12" 78 rpm record Condition: EXCELLENT MINUS unworn but scuffed, rare finest scratch on valse, plays very quiet light hiss extremely well recorded. Ada Sassoli was born on September 25, 1887, in Bologna. She began her harp studies at the Conservatory in Bologna at the age of seven, making her debut upon graduating in 1899. Subsequently, she moved to Paris, where she enrolled in the Conservatoire, studying under Hasselmans and earning the first prize on June 19, 1901. Following her studies, she commenced making public appearances in France and Belgium. In 1904–05, Sassoli embarked on her first tour of Australia and New Zealand alongside Dame Nellie Melba. They continued their collaborations with tours in the United States and Canada in 1905–06 and 1910–11. During the 1913–14 season, they toured Italy. In 1915–16, Sassoli served as an accompanist to Geraldine Farrar during a tour of the United States. A newspaper report from June 1902 highlighted Sassoli's early career, particularly her orchestral concert at St. James Hall, where she was assisted by Mme. Melba. The report praised Sassoli's exceptional harp playing, emphasizing her mastery of technique and interpretative powers. Despite the limitations of the harp as an instrument, Sassoli's performance made these limitations seem theoretical rather than actual, showcasing her extraordinary talents. Sassoli exhibited great talent from a young age, starting her studies at the Conservatoire in Bologna and later continuing her education in Paris under the guidance of Professor Hasselmans. Sassoli's success extended beyond her studies, as she performed successfully in both public and private settings in Paris. Her introduction to Mme. Melba in London in 1902 led to a strong endorsement from Melba, who actively supported Sassoli's career, recognizing her remarkable abilities. If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING. Quick note on grading: The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise."EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing."VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing."Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise. These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment. Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.
