The first edition of the work. Reprinted from The North Cheshire Herald. The author, Thomas Middleton was the Mayor of Hyde between 1929 and 1931. He is perhaps best known for his historical work Annals of Hyde; and its sequel The History of Hyde And Its Neighbourhood. This charming work is a collection of poetical works from noted poets all of whom hailed from Cheshire. The unusual work also contains biographies regarding each of the included poets. Notable entries include Samuel Laycock, Thomas Bardsley and Robert Walker. An unusual and very scarce collection of poetical works. CONDITION In the original green cloth. Externally very smart with slight bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Very small area of damp staining to the extremity of the rear board. Offsetting to endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just some marginal age toning.
