Description: Fresh from a local estate we have this wonderful country pastel painting by well listed Rhode Island artist Charles Henry Springer. The painting depicts a meandering winding dirt road beside a pond and stone wall during spring time with what appears to be apple trees starting to bloom in the distance. The painting is signed and dated lower right "Charles H Springer 1908". Overall measures 22 1/2" by 16" and sight measures 20 1/2" by 13 3/4". The original frame does show some wear consistent with age and has original frame label on verso from Caverly's on Tremont Street, Boston. Please see pictures and ask any questions. Charles Henry Springer (1857-1920). Known for his coastal Rhode Island scenes and landscapes. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy in the late 1800's and attended the Art Students League of New York. He was a well sought after artist in the Providence area during much of the last 1/4 of the 19th century and into the early 20th century.
