1906 Victorian Print "Friends" Jos Hoover & Sons Girl Hugging Collie Very Rare

Description: Classic & Ex Rare Victorian Chromolitho (?) Print by Jos Hoover & Sons, Philadelphia 1906, Titled: "Friends" & #705, Little Girl Hugging a Collie, Framed Under Old Wavy Glass, Approx: 21.5" H x 17.5" W (framed), 19.5" H x 15.5" W (Glass)Just Reduced! Really neat and rare old print, just the right size for display. This one, like most of Jos Hoover & Sons prints is quite striking. It is also very rare, we did not find a single one just like this in over 20 years of eBay sales or other search sites. We did find two others that were colorized versions from 1904, but none in black and white. It is in an antique frame with old wavy glass and there is some wear to frame and print common for age. But overall, still in very nice shape. The print is securely adhered to a thick pulp (almost cardboard like) paper backing so should hold up well. We photographed in and out of frame and in a few light settings for your consideration, but we only wiped off the glass. There are a few discoloring marks on the print, but they do not effect the item's appeal in a significant way in our opinion. Please look over all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed. We sell a lot of prints from this era and many very rare ones, but this appears to among the rarest. Joseph Hoover and Son's were fairly prolific printers in the late 1800's to the first decade or so of 1900's, but Joseph Hoover had been working continually since the 1850's, starting as an artist and framer before becoming skilled in chromolithography. We assume this is a chromolithograph print as most of Jos Hoover's prints were attributed as such, but we are not 100% sure. The colorized version of this print was dated 1904 as noted, but we believe the date on this, although hard to read is either 1906 or 1908 based on what we can see on label. We noticed some of the Hoover prints have Jos Hoover & Son and other Jos Hoover & Sons as this one has. Maybe another son joined the company at some point. We are pricing based on this item's appeal and scarcity. Many of Hoover's works sell much higher (above $250) such as his "Spirited Horses" series and many others. The colorized versions of this print (also rare) have sold for somewhat less, but not sure the owners knew of their rarity. Please Read: We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured!
