A period inscription on the back of the photo reads: V R Ranch, Deer Creek, Converse County, Wyo. 1905 William Booker Manager The Wyoming Historical Society has an article about the VR Ranch which indicates the ranch was owned by English and Eastern investors and in the 1880s managed by Frank Wolcott who would later become an important figure in Wyoming’s Johnson County War.
