Description: In this listing we are offering an excellent condition & all original "KODAK" cast iron still bank. The bank was named "KODAK" by the designer to connect it with the well-known Kodak box cameras of the era. But, no Kodak boxed camera exists which is remotely as ornate as this cast iron still bank! This bank was designed by the all time most famous toy bank designer Charles Bailey. The bank has optimum, over the top, ornate designs which is typical for the work of Charles Bailey. The bank has the raised lettering underneath: "Patent Pending 1905" & was produced by the J. & E. Stevens Toy Co. in Cromwell, Connecticut which produced many of Bailey's wonderful designs. There are no cracks, no chips, no missing components, & no repairs. There is some wear to the plating from use & some light surface toning from age. Also, there is a small bit of light surface rust on the top panel. But, lots of the original nickel plating is still present. This is an excellent condition example of this visual masterpiece of Victorian design. This pleasing & attractive bank is 4 15/16 inches long by 4 3/16 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches deep. The weight is 2 pounds & 2 ounces. We do not have a key for the bank. When we found the bank it was locked. We carefully fiddled around trying to get the bank opened just with our fingernails. We succeeded in opening it. When open we were able to verify the original interior locking mechanism is intact & complete. Interestingly, we were able to gently push the door up & it will stay up & not fall open. So, as it sits, it is possible to have the door, optionally, either in the locked (upright position) or unlocked (totally open position) without having a key. Please examine the photos closely and purchase based on your own judgement as to condition and value. This item is inventory #11,520.
