Description: original Scrapbook from Judge George J. Cameron of Portland, Oregon -- covers the years from about 1905 to 1921 -- many newspaper clippings and full page pictures and cartoons of the judge, as well as drawings that were apparently given to him -- further articles indicate he was deeply involved with Scottish affairs including the Athena, Oregon Scottish events -- -- additionally Judge Cameron was the principal founder of a Soccer league in Portland in about 1907, and sponsor of the Cameron Cup - some nice pictures are included of this -- on the last pages of the scrapbook are several very old clippings the judge, including a mention of him playing in a Portland-Astoria soccer match in 1894 - verifying speculation I found online about his early participation in the sport here in Oregon -- -- pretty fascinating look at the life of a Judge who often defended the interests of the underclass/underground community against the local government and was apparently quite a controversial figure as a result -- -- the last pages have several letters to Mrs. Cameron from more or less famous individuals expressing their condolences on his death -- -- binding measures 9 1/2 by 12 in. // app. 68 pages with something on them -- -- some wear to the paper within from glue and aging with edge wear here and there -- tape and tape residue on the cover with the spine cover detached -- -- ***** -- Each week we post a number of interesting items that have been purchased from Oregon Estate Sales-shipping can be recalculated and combined with multiple purchases-please let me do the calculating for combined shipments before paying.
